The West AHEC offers a variety of clinical education opportunities for medical, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and allied health students in various sites within our 14 county region including acute care, long-term care and private practice settings.
We coordinate the placement of health profession students from the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and other regional colleges and universities for their off-campus clinical rotation training. Area physicians and health professionals serve as community based faculty precepting students during their clinical experience.
SERVICES AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS
- Assist you in locating housing accommodations if needed.
- Provide you with an orientation to the region and clinical training facility.
- Notify you of any appropriate continuing education programs being offered in the region during your rotation.
- Provide library services through our Regional Library Network. Services include access to clinical resource books, medical and allied health journals, interlibrary loans, on-line computer searches, etc.
- Contact you during your rotation to see how things are going and to offer further assistance if needed.
